American actor Chris Pratt told NBC’s TODAY on Tuesday 20 October, with Carson Daly, about his private audience with Pope Leo XIV.
“He’s awesome. He’s great,” he said of the Holy Father. On the Pope’s American manner: “Yeah, he’s an American dude. It was amazing. I think he’s a fantastic man.”
On what he asked: “I asked him how I could pray for him, and then I asked him a question about sort of grace on the fringes and how do you bring love to people while also sticking to the words of the Gospel. And he just gave me the most amazing answers.” He did not share the Pope’s replies.
The meeting took place during filming of the documentary “Pétros Ení” on the tomb of St Peter (Pratt as narrator, with Vatican Media and the Fabric of St Peter; premiere at the Rome Film Festival on 16 October). Vatican Report covered the film on 12 October; the new angle is what Pratt asked in the private audience.
