Privacy policy
Last updated: October 2026. This notice explains how Vatican Report processes the personal data of readers of vaticanreport.com, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR").
Data controller
The data controller is the editorial desk of Vatican Report, an independent online news outlet covering the Vatican and the Holy See. Vatican Report is not affiliated with the Holy See or any body of the Catholic Church. For any request concerning personal data, write to vaticanreportredazione@gmail.com.
Data collected
Browsing data: the site's systems automatically collect certain technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, access time) needed for the operation and security of the service.
Data provided voluntarily: sending email to the contact addresses entails acquiring the sender's address and the data it contains, used only to reply.
Newsroom accounts: for newsroom members, email and login credentials are processed to authenticate access to the reserved area.
Cookies and advertising
The site uses technical cookies required for operation (for example to remember the chosen language and theme).
The site displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show personalised ads based on previous visits to this or other sites. Readers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are shown a GDPR-compliant consent message, through which they can accept or refuse personalisation.
Advertising preferences can also be managed in Google's ad settings, and cookies can be disabled in the browser. See the Cookie policy for details.
Purposes and legal basis
Browsing data is processed to ensure the operation and security of the site (legitimate interest). Voluntarily sent data is processed to respond to requests (pre-contractual measures). Advertising and personalisation cookies are installed only with the user's consent.
Retention and disclosure
Data is kept only as long as necessary for the stated purposes and is not sold or disclosed to third parties, except where required by law. Some technical providers (hosting, email services, Google for advertising) process data on the controller's behalf in compliance with the GDPR.
Data subject rights
At any time you may exercise the rights under Articles 15-22 of the GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, by writing to vaticanreportredazione@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.
