The day centred on Pope Leo XIV’s General Audience in St Peter’s Square. Catechesis on faith and culture, then the greetings: pilgrims from Jordan, Ukrainian amputee athletes and Chicago activists for detained migrants. The Bulletin stopped at B0846 and B0847. No appointments. 🙏 Catechesis At 10 a.m., on the sagrato of St Peter’s, the seventh catechesis in the cycle on the Council documents, on Gaudium et spes and “the relationship between faith and culture” (B0846). Its foundation is the Incarnation: faith is “called to become culture.” He recalls John Paul II: “a faith that does not become culture is a faith not fully received, not thoroughly thought through, not faithfully lived.” And he adds: “Faith can become incarnate in every culture, because it does not identify specifically with any of them.” He asks the faithful to live “in very close union with the people of their time.” No appeals at the end of the Audience; it closed with the Our Father and the Apostolic Blessing (around 10:49 a.m.). 🤝 Greetings Vatican News on the greeting round: pilgrims from Fuheis (Jordan), from the Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, already named in the Arabic greeting in the Bulletin; more than 40 Ukrainian athletes from the amputee football team “Pokrova AMP,” almost all former combatants, with Ukraine’s ambassador to the Holy See; and about thirty activists from Chicago’s Coalition for Spiritual and Public Leadership, who gave the Pope an album with photos and letters from migrants held at the ICE detention centre in Broadview. The Pope greeted the group and joined them for a photo. 📋 Bulletin Besides the Audience text (B0846), B0847 records the morning audience with Mercedes-Benz directors and the notice, signed by Ravelli, of the Mass in suffrage for deceased cardinals and bishops: Thursday 5 November at 9 a.m., at the Altar of the Chair in St Peter’s (a date already in calendar B0843). No appointments or resignations. 🏛️ Holy See Parolin opened at the Gregorian the conference “The Holy See facing totalitarian systems in the twentieth century” (through 29 October). At the Vatican Museums “One Hundred Years of the Popemobile” is underway, with eight historic Mercedes, alongside the directors’ audience. Bartholomew visited the Pontifical Oriental Institute with Gugerotti; no papal meeting reported. Fides previews for 5 November at the Urbaniana a conference on the centenary of the first six Chinese bishops, with Parolin, Chow and Tagle. 📌 To watch • Thursday 29 October: no public papal appointment confirmed in the sources checked • 5 November at 9 a.m.: Mass in suffrage for deceased cardinals and bishops in St Peter’s • 6–17 November: Apostolic Journey to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru
