On the eve of his departure for Latin America, Leo XIV names a new Nuncio to Hungary on the very day he receives the Hungarian bishops, and chooses the theme of the 2027 World Day of the Sick: the community that carries the sick person to Jesus. 🎖️ Appointments The Pope appointed Archbishop Franco Coppola as Apostolic Nuncio to Hungary; until now he was Nuncio to Belgium and Luxembourg. Two new Under-Secretaries join the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development: Fr Avelino Chicoma Bundo Chico, SJ, an Angolan Jesuit who has worked in the Dicastery since 2020 and was head of office, and Professor Claudia Leal Luna, a moral theologian, formerly at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and now teaching at the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute and a member of the International Theological Commission. Cardinals Mario Zenari and Christophe Pierre, with Bishops Ambrogio Spreafico (emeritus of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino and Anagni-Alatri) and Maurizio Malvestiti (Lodi), become members of the Section for First Evangelization and New Particular Churches of the Dicastery for Evangelization. 🩺 World Day of the Sick 2027 "They lowered him on the stretcher in front of Jesus" (cf. Lk 5:19) is the theme chosen by the Pope for the 35th World Day of the Sick, Thursday 11 February 2027, with the subtitle "The role of the community in caring for every person". Like the friends of the paralytic, the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development explains, parishes and Christian communities "are called to assume the responsibility of caring for those who are alone, the elderly and those who suffer". 🗓️ Audiences This morning the Pope received the bishops of Hungary on their "ad limina" visit. 📌 To watch • Friday 6 November, 7 a.m.: departure from Fiumicino; arrival in Montevideo at 8:30 p.m. Rome time • 6-17 November: Apostolic Journey to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru • Wednesday 18 November, 5 p.m.: Mass for the 400th anniversary of the Dedication of St Peter's Basilica
