Toyota: Hilux papamobile for Leo XIV in Argentina
Toyota Argentina presents adapted Hilux for the Pope’s transfers (visit 8–11 November)

Toyota Argentina formally presented one of two Hilux pickups adapted and donated as papamobiles for Pope Leo XIV’s transfers during the apostolic visit to Argentina (8–11 November 2026).
The Buenos Aires unit was presented at the Kansai dealership, with Apostolic Nuncio Michael Wallace Banach representing the Holy See. Toyota Argentina president Gustavo Salinas handed over the keys; Kansai president Mariano Fernández also took part.
The second unit is already in Córdoba province, under Gendarmería Nacional custody until official activities begin.
Both Hilux vehicles were manufactured at the Zárate plant (Buenos Aires) and adapted to Vatican requirements by Vallé Equipamientos (certified by Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan). Confidential transport was handled by Furlong; Kansai acted as institutional liaison with the Holy See and the Argentine Episcopal Conference, and provided logistics support in Buenos Aires.
Design details remain largely confidential: images show a white finish, single cab and a gold Vatican coat of arms on the pillar. Distinct from the Fiat Titano papamobile already presented for Uruguay.
