Pope receives Bartholomew I and Jesus Youth
Audience with the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople and address in the Paul VI Hall to the movement born in Kerala forty years ago.
This morning Pope Leo XIV received in audience His Holiness Bartholomew I, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. The Holy See Press Office reports this in the Bulletin of 24 October 2026 (01550). Among the morning's other audiences were also Archbishop Filippo Iannone, prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, and Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.
In the Paul VI Hall the Pope then met the participants in the Jesus Youth International Conference 2026 (01549). In his address, delivered in English, he noted that "it is the first time that the Jesus Youth movement, with all of its leaders and delegates, is meeting with the Successor of Peter", forty years after the movement's inception in Kerala, India, and urged: "Do not lose your apostolic zeal, but rather foster it and carry it to new countries."
