Today's Holy See Press Office Bulletin, 22 October, contains six communications: the audience with a delegation of the American Jewish Committee (N. 0826, Bulletin); the audience with participants in the International Congress on School and University Pastoral Care (N. 0827, Bulletin); the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith's document "Venite ad me" (N. 0828, Bulletin); the audiences (N. 0829, Bulletin); the video message for registration for WYD Seoul 2027 (N. 0830, Bulletin); the signing of the Agreement between the Holy See and Honduras (N. 0831, Bulletin). There are no appointments or resignations today.
Audience with the American Jewish Committee. This morning, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, Pope Leo XIV received a delegation of the American Jewish Committee. The Bulletin publishes his greeting, in English. The Pope recalled that he had affirmed that "the Church does not tolerate anti-Semitism and fights against it, on the basis of the Gospel itself", adding: "Differences of opinion, however profound, must never give rise to prejudice and hostility, which undermine the moral foundations of society." He also recalled John Paul II, whose liturgical memorial is today.
Audience with the Congress on School and University Pastoral Care. In the Paul VI Hall the Pope received the participants in the Congress, held on 22 and 23 October. The address was given in Italian; the quotations below are our translation. He spoke of the «condizioni di disagio esistenziale» of many students: «Famiglie ferite, solitudini digitali, sentimento di inadeguatezza o di timore davanti a un futuro che appare incerto» ("conditions of existential distress... Wounded families, digital loneliness, a sense of inadequacy or fear in the face of a future that seems uncertain", our translation). He observed that «una meritocrazia male intesa finisce per non rispettare le persone» ("a misunderstood meritocracy ends up failing to respect people", our translation) and that «sotto la corazza, che tanti adolescenti si costruiscono per non soffrire, si cela il desiderio di amare ed essere amati» ("beneath the armour that so many adolescents build so as not to suffer lies the desire to love and to be loved", our translation).
"Venite ad me". The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith publishes "Venite ad me. Considerations on the Transmission of the Faith in an Epochal Change", approved by Pope Leo XIV on 21 August 2026 and signed by Víctor Manuel Fernández and Armando Matteo. The document notes that the handing on of the faith to new generations "no longer occurs, so to speak, 'automatically'". Text on vatican.va
The audiences. The Pope received Mario Grech, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Synod, with Kevin Joseph Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life; the delegation of the American Jewish Committee; and the participants in the Congress on school and university pastoral care.
Video message for WYD Seoul 2027. As registration opens for World Youth Day, to be held in Seoul from 3 to 8 August 2027, the Pope tells young people: "This is not merely an invitation to see a new city. It is a call to set out on a pilgrimage of faith, friendship and hope."
Holy See-Honduras Agreement. At 9.30 a.m., in the Hall of Treaties of the Apostolic Palace, Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Nasry Juan Asfura Zablah, President of Honduras, signed the 25-article Agreement between the Holy See and the Republic of Honduras. According to the Bulletin, it protects the Church's legal personality and religious freedom, recognises the Church's right to freely appoint its ministers, guarantees conscientious objection and protects the inviolability of the sacramental seal «senza condizioni o limitazioni» ("without conditions or limitations", our translation). It will enter into force on the exchange of the instruments of ratification.
