Today's Holy See Press Office Bulletin, Monday 2 November, Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, so far contains one communication: the Pope's homily at Mass at the Verano Cemetery (No. 0860, Bulletin, Italian).

The Pope's homily at the Verano. At 4 pm Pope Leo XIV presided over the Eucharistic celebration at the monumental entrance of Rome's Verano Cemetery. The Mass, he said, is offered "in suffrage for the faithful departed, especially those who rest here and those whom each of us carries in our heart". Commenting on the Beatitudes (Mt 5:1-12), he noted that their proclamation "resounds with particular spiritual force in a cemetery, which is like a threshold between this life and the next". On the Beatitude "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted", he prayed "for those who have recently lost a loved one, especially those from whom it was torn away by the senseless violence of war. May the tears of so many mothers, so many children, so many elderly people touch the consciences of those who have the power to silence the weapons!" Marking the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi, he recalled the praise for "Sister Bodily Death" in the Canticle of the Creatures, and concluded that "our bond with the faithful departed is not broken, but transformed" (our translation; no official English text yet).

So far no appointments in today's Bulletin.
