Gallagher: Leo XIV to the US “in the not too distant future”
The Vatican foreign minister in Rome: the visit “might not occur in 2027”

Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States, told journalists in Rome on Tuesday 27 October that he expects Pope Leo XIV — the first US-born pope — to visit the United States “in the not too distant future.”
According to Reuters, Gallagher also said the visit “might not occur in 2027,” depending on commitments. No date has been set.
In February the Press Office ruled out a United States trip in 2026. The next confirmed international itinerary remains Latin America: Uruguay, Argentina and Peru from 6 to 17 November.
Advaticanum, covering the same briefing, also reports a possible combined visit with Mexico and the Guadalupe shrine: that detail does not appear in the Reuters piece.
